Shango is the Orisha of the drum in the Yoruba culture, and is associated with fire and the sun. A King and a ladies man, legend has it he was married three times, with his second wife being Oshun. Although he is know for his strength, resistance, and aggression, he is also generous, compassionate, and tireless on behalf of those he loves. In my interpretation of Shango, I decided mix fire and water, and to portray him as a Merman.

I just wrapped up a big travel year in 2023, and my most recent work is Pen & Ink and Gouache on paper from my sketchbook featuring impressions of France, Italy, Scotland, and most recently Mexico.
